Digital Element Attends the Annual SIIM Convention in Charlotte, NC from July 4-7, 2009
SIIM, the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine, is dedicated to advanced computer applications and information technology in medical imaging, participating in both education and research. The annual SIIM convention serves as a forum where companies and individuals can meet, share ideas, and network.
Although an unfortunate economic climate led to reduced attendance at SIIM 2009, there was no lack of fresh ideas, with many discussions all around about new business partnerships. Some of the general seminar topics included examining the synergies and differences between pathology and radiology as well as ways to optimize the benefits from the recent economic stimulus package.
Throughout the four days, Digital Element's CEO and President, Don McClure, met with PACs (Picture Archiving and Communication System) vendors, device manufactures, and medical imaging pioneers, exchanging ideas and learning about the development challenges presented by the current state of the healthcare.
After a discussion with a prominent PACs vendor, Mr. McClure remarked "There really is a lot of movement in the medical imaging sphere right now, despite the economy's best attempts to slow it down."
The CEO of Digital Element noted that "Decision makers [in medical imaging] are starting to realize that enhanced imaging not only improves workflow but also improves the patient doctor relationship. This means device manufactures and software developers can gain a competitive edge when they improve their processing features and find faster algorithms."
McClure concluded that "Of course bringing those kind of improvements is the core of Digital Element's mission, and the SIIM conference is the perfect place to share that mission with others."
The 2010 SIIM Conference will be held on June 3-6 in Minneapolis, MI at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
